Uzoho is undeserving of a starting spot in the national team, Babayaro questions Rohr

Emmanuel Babayaro has hit out at Gernot Rohr’s choice of Francis Uzoho as Super Eagles first choice goalkeeper.

Since Uzoho’s appearance at the 2018 World Cup, it has been a topsy-turvy showing at club level.

Having lost his starting spot at Deportivo La Coruna, Uzoho, in the winter transfer joined Cypriot side Anorthosis Famagusta – and has only 3 appearances to his name at the club.

Emmanuel Babayaro, a former Super Eagles goalkeeper said a shot stopper that has managed less than 20 starts all season didn’t deserve a starting berth in the Nigerian national team.

“I can’t believe he {Uzoho} is still the first choice goalkeeper of the Super Eagles, Babayaro, as quoted by owngoal.

“A country of over 100 million people deserve more than a goalkeeper who hasn’t kept up to twenty games in Europe since his debut 18 months ago at Deportivo La Coruna.

“It’s sad that Rohr is still retaining him as first choice and no local coach can try that, he won’t survive it.

“He will be sacked by the Nigeria Football Federation the public will make him look like the worst human on earth.”

Uzoho has been named amongst the three invited goalkeepers in Gernot Rohr’s 25-man provisional squad for the 2019 African Cup of Nations that kick-starts June 23.

Nigeria, a three-time African champions have been drawn in Group B alongside Madagascar, Burundi, and Guinea.
