Redknapp: I feel sorry for under fire Sarri

Sarri under pressure

Sarri is in a tough position, according to the former England international

Jamie Redknapp was astounded seeing Chelsea goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga defied orders to be subbed off his manager

Maurizio Sarri has been under intense criticism after series of underwhelming performance from his team, which according to reports he had been given three-game ultimatum at Chelsea.

With a convincing performance in the Carabao Cup final loss to Man City on Sunday being marred by a minute of football madness – as goalkeeper Kepa refused to be subbed off for proven penalty stopper Willy Caballero.

Despite Kepa going down twice in the extra time of the game, which might have forced the former Napoli manager to call the shot to sub him, the Spaniard goalkeeper, however, defied the order.

Sarri was seen full of fury on the touchline, and according to Redknapp, who represented the likes of Tottenham and Liverpool, an unbelievable Kepa had put Sarri in a tough situation.

“I thought I’d seen it all in football,” Redknapp told SkySports. “I feel sorry for the manager.

“It’s such a difficult situation for him.”

Meanwhile, former Chelsea captain believes an incredible performance was overshadowed by Kepa’s refusal to leave the field – and branded the goalkeeper as being disrerspectful.
