Super Eagles will be in Egypt for football, says Ogu.

The 31-year-old made the Super Eagles final AFCON squad, but while anticipating seeing some historical places in Egypt, he maintained that the team would be in Egypt for football.

Super Eagles will be in Egypt to play football, not to read the Bible, says John Ogu.

The three-time African champions has been tipped amidst favourite to win the 32nd edition African Cup of Nations, and John Ogu, a former Hapoel Beer Sheva of Israel midfielder is relishing the challenge.

Although the player confessed that it would be a huge task to win a fourth AFCON for Nigeria in Egypt, he said it was possible if the Super Eagles players work collectively.

Ogu, as quoted by Brila.net said:  “It’s a collective thing, the whole players are looking to the AFCON. It’s a very big task. Personally, I’m looking forward to this challenge.”

“Every Nigerian is expecting us to go and win the AFCON for the fourth time and we {players} are confident.”

“However, we will take every game as they come. We’ll go to Egypt and try as much as possible to make our country proud.”

Looking forward to be in the ancient city of Egypt, the midfielder continued, “Yes, but we’re not going to Egypt to read the Bible but play football.

“However, it will be fun to see some historical places we read about in the Bible.”

Yesterday, Nigeria final AFCON squad was announced – and the biggest news from the announcement that has been making rave in the country was the drop of Leicester City forward Kelechi Iheanacho, who was dropped alongside Semi Ajayi.

Coach Gernot Rohr had on numerous occasions warned Iheanacho that he might be dropped from the squad.

Meanwhile, a former Super Eagles international Mutiu Adepoju has told the struggling forward that he shouldn’t feel bad about the drop, but rather buckle up for the future.
