Chelsea rejects bid for Omeruo

Chelsea values Omeruo around
€5m turns down €2.5m bid

The Spanish side has had their offer for the Super Eagles defender turned down by his parent club – Chelsea.

Kenneth Omeruo, last season was on loan at Leganes, where he racked up 31 appearances in all competition for the Los Pepineros – helping the club finished 13th on the league standings.

The defender impressive form last season spur Leganes to launch an initial bid of around €2.5m, but according to Aoifootball, Chelsea rejected the bid, as they value their player around €5m.

Omeruo has been listed amongst Nigeria’s final squad for the AFCON billed to start this month, and According to the reports, Leganes President Maria Victoria Pavon was hopeful a deal could be struck for the former Middleborough player to prevent a potential viding war.

The Spanish club is being said to return with an improved offer for Omeruo, who still has two years left on his contract.

Omeruo, having joined Chelsea from the Standard Liege Academy in 2012 has been a nomad with six loan spells, in four countries – England, Netherland, Turkey, and Spain – representing the likes  Ado Den Haag, Middlesbrough, Kasimpasa (2015-16 and 2017-18), Anlayaspor, and Leganes.

However, earlier this year, Omeruo posited that it would be a dream to represent Chelsea, but at that time, he maintained that was not his priority.

On a return to Chelsea, the Super Eagles of Nigeria defender said: “Right now it’s not my priority. For me playing well is. And if I get called at the end of the season, fine.

“It will be a dream come true. But we will see what the season brings.”

The 44 capped international continued: “It’s been a good season for me. To be honest I’m just concentrating with Leganes to ensure we finish in a comfortable position. 

“And also, make sure I play a lot of games and improve my games.”
