Sevilla announced that the player died in a car accident

Former Arsenal and Sevilla forward Jose Antonio Reyes has been announced dead aftermath a traffic collision.

Sevilla, a club, the player represented across two spells (2000-04 & 2012-16) confirmed the passing away of the forward in the early hours of Saturday.

Sevilla, confirming the tragic news on Saturday, tweeted: “We could not offer worse news. Our beloved squad member José Antonio Reyes died in a traffic accident.

“Rest in peace.”

Also, it was reported that Reyes’ cousin Jonathan Reyes was as well killed in the car accident.

The forward, a 21-capped Spain international in 253 appearances for Sevilla won 3 Europa League cup with Sevilla and two other with Atletico Madrid.

The 35-year-old was also part of the Arsenal side that went all season unbeaten in the league in the 2003-04 season – and in 110 appearances for the North London club, he scored 23 goals.

Arsenal took to Twitter to express their devastation over the news: “Everyone at Arsenal is devastated by the shocking news that our former player Jose Antonio Reyes has died in a traffic collision in Spain.

“Jose Antonio Reyes: 1983-2019. Rest in peace, Jose.

The winger before his death was plying his trade with Extremadura UD in the second division in Spain after joining in January following a brief stint in China
