Victor Osimhen named club’s player of the season
Osimhen ‘s 17 goals earned him player of the season for his club.
The Super Eagles forward has been named RC Sporting Chaleroi ’s player of the season for the just concluded Belgian topflight season.
Victor Osimhen joined the Belgian side on a season loan from Wolfsburg – and with 17 goals in 34 appearances, clinched the award for his club’s best player for the 2018/19 season.
The former Golden Eaglet player’s 17 goals made him the player with the most goals for his club, and league’s third-highest scoring player.
Osimhen’s goals were vital for Charleroi, who finished 9th on the log – narrowly missing out on the Division two playoff rounds.
The young Nigerian exploits haven’t gone unnoticed as a former Super Eagles forward, Yakubu Aiyegbeni has tipped him to be the replacement for Odion Ighalo.
The 19-year-old good form hasn’t gone unnoticed to some of European bigger sides – AC Milan, being identified as one of them queuing up for his service.
Meanwhile, Osimehen’s attention will now be shifted on the 2019 AFCON bid to start next month, as he has been named in Nigeria’s provisional squad.
