Iwobi should be sold in the summer – Charlie Nicolas
Charlie Nicolas, a former Arsenal forward believes the Nigerian midfielder should be among the players the North London club will be shipping out in the summer.
Alex Iwobi, who has played 33 matches for Arsenal in the league this season, has witnessed a dip in form of late – and in the last two months, he has featured mostly, coming from the substitute bench.
The 23-year-old, this season, in a total 45 appearances, only registered 5 goals, and Nicolas, now a pundit with Skysports of the belief that his former side has to let go of Iwobi to accommodate new faces in the summer.
“I would sell Henrik Mkhitaryan and if I got the right money for Alex Iwobi I would sell him too,” Nicolas, who scored 54 goals in 184 appearances for Arsenal said on Skysports. “Denis Suarez has gone, that was a waste of time.”
Going into the African Nations Cup, starting next month, Iwobi has been identified by many Nigerians as one of the most important players for the country in the tournament.
Speaking early this year, Sunday Oliseh, a former coach and captain of the Super Eagles said the success of the three-time African champions in the upcoming AFCON relied heavily on how well the Arsenal midfielder fare at the tournament
