(10km Offside) Huddersfield glad to Avoid Winning at West Ham

West Ham 4-3 Huddersfield

Huddersfield Town players have spoken of their relief at coming from that Premier League game against West Ham game with a defeat. The Terriers had come from behind to lead 3-1 at the London stadium with 20 minutes, thanks to a Karlan Grant double. But Jan Siewert’s side managed to find a way to lose 4-3, following a stoppage-time from Javier Hernandez.

Huddersfield have now come out to talk of how relieved they are to have suffered another loss. ‘We were worried we would end up winning that game’, said Terence Kongolo. ‘We had beaten Wolves a while ago, and that already feels like a win too much, the plan was always to keep losing. Another Huddersfield player, who chose to remain unnamed, also spoke of his respite after that loss. ‘It was quite difficult this time. We went behind early on, but managed to score three goals. We didn’t really factor in the fact that we were playing West Ham, but we got away with that complacency in the end.

Grant was the scorer of two goals and currently the joint top-scorer at the club, and Siewert spoke of how he would talk to him and make him understand how important it is that he doesn’t tamper with their plans. ‘Our straightforward plan was almost scuppered by Karlan, as he went on to score two goals’, said Siewert. ‘Karlan just recently joined in January, and doesn’t quite understand how we work, so we’ll make sure he knows of our M.O. I’m also relatively new here myself, having joined from Wakefield in January, but I assume I’ve gotten to grips to things here faster than he has’.

‘Damn you, Karlan!! One goal was more than enough’

Huddersfield have eight games left this season to continue their losing streak. ‘Two of those games involve playing away at Crystal Palace and at Southampton’, said goalkeeper Jonas Lossl. ‘Those games may make our record hard to keep, but we’ll keep fighting, or rather keep doing the opposite of fighting, and achieve our aims’.
