Wenger: Ramsey departure, a great loss for Arsenal
Ramsey ‘s Juventus move, Arsenal’s loss, says Arsene Wenger
The Welsh, last week, confirmed he would be ending his 11-year-association
with the North London club when his contract runs out at the end of the season.
Aaron Ramsey in January signed a pre-contract agreement with Italian giants Juventus and last week, both the midfielder and Arsenal announced the former Cardiff player would join Juventus, in a deal worth over £400k weekly wages.
Meanwhile, Arsene Wenger, who brought the 28-year-old to Arsenal as a teenager in 2008, admitted the deal was a loss for his former club and an exciting one for the Welsh midfielder.
Wenger, as quoted by Skysports: “It will be a loss for Arsenal. I must say it will be an interesting move for Ramsey.
“He is a player who is great going forward. His main quality is he can keep the final ball and he makes interesting runs from deep. You don’t find many players today who can make midfield runs off the ball.
“It will be an interesting addition for Juventus.”
Under Wenger, Ramsey won three FA Cup titles, scoring winning goals on two occasions.
In 357 appearances for Arsenal, Ramsey has scored a total of 61 goals.
