Emilano Sala: Police confirm body recovered is that of the Cardiff player
The Dorset Police have confirmed the body recovered from the plane wreckage late Wednesday is that of the missing Cardiff player.
Sala, having completed a move from French side Nantes to Cardiff was travelling to the English club in a plane piloted by David Ibbotson.
The plane went missing on January 21 and after initial search was called off, a private funded search team late on Wednesday found a body after the plane wreckage was earlier found on Sunday morning.
In a statement on Thursday night to confirm the identity of the bound found, the Dorset police said: “The body brought to Portland Port today, Thursday 7 February 2019, has been formally identified by HM Coroner for Dorset as that of professional footballer Emiliano Sala.
“The families of Mr Sala and the pilot David Ibbotson have been updated with this news and will continue to be supported by specially-trained family liaison officers.”
