Real Madrid players objected Mourinho 's return

United fires Mourinho after two and half years at the helm of the Old Trafford managerial affairs

In an announcement on the club’s official website, the 20-time league champions have announced that they had parted ways with the Portuguese manager.

Manchester United has confirmed that Jose Mourinho has left the club, and are on the verge of announcing a caretaker manager.

“The club would like to thank Jose for his work during his time at Manchester United and to wish him success in the future, United said in a statement.

“A caretaker-manager will be appointed until the end of the season while the club conducts a thorough recruitment process for a new, full-time manager,” United said in a statement.”

The former Chelsea manager sacking comes after rumours that he has fell-out with his players – star man Paul Pogba the most notable.

Mourinho won the League Cup and the Europa League at Old Trafford, but United are sixth in the Premier League – 19 points behind leaders Liverpool, who beat them 3-1 on Sunday.

Manchester United are as well 11 points adrift the top four spot.
