‘Argentina Begged Messi, We Must Beg Enyeama, the Best in Africa – Akpoborie Cries Out
Enyeama Must Return for World Cup
Jonathan akpoborie has appealed to Nigerians to beg Enyeama, a former captain of the Super Eagles of Nigeria and member of the team that won the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations in South Africa to come out of international retirement.
Enyeama has been out of international football after an abrupt retirement from the National team following a rift with Sunday Oliseh, the then handler of the Super Eagles of Nigeria
Enyeama, according to media reports was said to be sad with authorities of the Nigeria Football Federation for his treatment aftermath of his clash with Oliseh.
With Carl Ikeme who took over from Vincent Enyeama as No 1., diagnosed with Acute Leukemia, they have been calls for Gernot Rohr to bring back the 101- capped Enyeama back into the Super Eagles team.
Akpoborie, who scored four international goals was a guest on Brila FM last Friday for the Nigeria – Cameroon clash in which Nigeria thumped the Cameroonians by 4 goals to nil.
The ex-international said on Brila FM that Nigerians should appeal to Enyeama to reverse his international retirement decisions as Argentines did the same when the La Albiceleste current captain, Lionel Messi announced that he would be retiring from international football last year
According to the former VfL Wolfsburg of Germany player, bringing Enyeama back to the National team is expedient as Nigeria will need the best crops of players going to next year’s World Cup in Russia.
Akpoborie said: “The Nigeria National team is nobody’s club. It’s supposed to parade the best players that we have. Enyeama, is the best goalkeeper in Nigeria, not just in Nigeria but Africa.”
“If we have a goalkeeper as good as Enyeama, we should parade him when we qualify for the World Cup,” he added.
