LMC wacks Wikki
Following a thorough investigation into the incident which occurred during the MD 33 fixture when Wikki Tourists hosted Rangers Intl at the Tafawa Balewa Stadium where aggrieved home fans lost their tolerance and attacked the away team and the Match Officials, the League Management Company (LMC) has slammed a fine of ₦2.250M and 3 home games lock out of their fans on Wikki for the Violation of several codes of the NPFL Framework and Rules.
The punishment which also includes a ₦500,000 compensation for the referee and a compulsory repair of the damaged Rangers team bus was imposed on them after an annoyed section of its fans hurled missiles and encroached the pitch, injuring a match official – Bose Momoh and forcing the game to be halted for more than half an hour.
The match was at 1-1 when they felt they were being “robbed” by the match Officials and the infuriated home fans started the assault. They unleashed missiles on the officials, bashing one of the eyes of Momoh and forcefully stopped the game which resumed after the violence and ended 1-1.
Wikki’s Management has, so far, been cooperative with the LMC and has helped fish out the main conductors of this dirty act.
